Wah-Tut-Ca Scout Reservation, Northwood NH.


ON THE RESERVATION

At Wah-Tut-Ca there is lots to do on the reservation. Your Patrol, Den, or Crew could hike to the cliffs and view Northwood Lake from Robinson Lookout. Check the water level at the Hosmer A. Vernal Pool. Vist the Standing Stone or the Abeniaki Pine at the edge of the universe. You can do a property line walk and see just how big 300 acres are.

Check out the NALMC 5-mile loop trail or hike up Saddleback Mountain. Bring your bikes and ride the miles of old logging trails in the Forest Peters Wildlife Management Area. Ask your Campmaster for more program ideas.

  • McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery in Concord – lots of information about astronomy, engineering, Earth and space sciences

  • Charmingdale Farm in Candia – horseback riding and agricultural displays

  • New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon – NASCAR racing speed!

  • Lawrence L. Lee Scouting Museum in Manchester – discover Scouting history at Camp Carpenter

Lone Tree Scout Reservation, Kingston NH.

ON THE RESERVATION

Lone Tree is one of the most versatile Scout Camps available. Its facilities are optimal for almost any Scouting Program.  For Nature features check out the Beaver Dams on the Country Pond emergent marsh. Examine one of the only Atlantic White Cedar Swamps in New England. Check out the red white and blue trails- hike them all. Look for signs of wildlife such as eagles, foxes, deer and bobcats. Canoe or Kayak the Powwow River Estuary, which feeds through Amesbury into the Merrimack River

Out of council Scout will appreciate Lone Tree as a stopover or home base for:

  • Rock Rimmon State Forest in Kingston State Park....hike to scenic views 10 min from camp

  • Biking distance to many local historical societies in the heart of the cradle of America

  • 30 min from Mt. Pawtuckaway State Park in Nottingham – swim, hike to the the fire tower and/or check out the Boulder Field

  • 20 min from Mystery Hill, North Salem, NH....see primitive structures and the native American Dugout Canoe discovered in the Powwow River Estuary

  • 20 min from Canobie Lake Park, Salem, NH

  • 20 min to the Haverhill Train Station to the Boston Freedom Trail, museums and points east in Maine Via the MBTA or Downeaster by Amtrak

  • 30 min from Great Bay Discovery Center on Great Bay featuring exhibits and touch tank with live sea creatures

  • 30 min from Seacoast Science Center at Odiorne State Park in Rye
