Each year in February, the Yankee Clipper Council recognizes those Scouts who achieved the rank of Eagle Scout during the preceding year at a banquet. For this banquet, each new Eagle is hosted by a "Sponsor," someone with expertise in the Eagle's field of interest or chosen career area. The Sponsor is asked to invite the Eagle to spend time at his place of work or otherwise meet with him to offer insights about his career field, and to host the Eagle at the Eagle Recognition Banquet.
