Scoutmaster/Asst. Scoutmaster Specific Training

  • 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • $5.00 per participant (pay online, or on-site)

Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training is designed for any adult accepting the invitation to serve as a Scoutmaster or assistant Scoutmaster of a Boy Scout troop.

Troop committee members and other adults who expect to play a supportive role in the success of a troop are also invited to attend.

Webelos leaders preparing to move on to a leadership position in a Scout troop are encouraged to enroll.



  1. Getting Started: The Role of the Scoutmaster in a Boy-Led Troop
  2. Lighting the Fire: The Outdoor Program and the Advancement Program
  3. Keeping It Going: Program Planning and Troop Administration


  • Check-in begins at 8:00 AM. Course starts at 8:30 AM sharp
  • Please bring your own lunch (drinks and snacks will be provided)
  • If you have any questions or specific needs relating to the course, please contact Mark Marotta (marottas5@verizon.net)

In order to be considered fully trained for Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster service, participants must also complete:

  • "This Is Scouting", an online training course
  • "Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills", a hands-on training event
