The Salem News Thu Jan 13, 2011, 02:00 AM EST PEABODY — Marc W. Sosnowski, age 55, a third-generation Salemite, died Sunday evening, Jan. 9, 2011 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He was affectionately known to his family as "Uncie."
Born in Salem, the son of the late William
and Mary (Geronimos) Sosnowski, Marc was raised and
educated in Salem. He graduated from Essex Agricultural
School, where he majored in Horticulture. Any
responsibility that he took on, he did so with passion
and commitment. Nothing was more important than family,
so much so that he became the family historian,
recording family history and collecting memorabilia over
the years. Marc's greatest rewards came from his 25-year involvement with The Boy Scouts, Troop 24, in Salem, where he served as Assistant Den Leader, Assistant Scout Master and then as Troop Committee Chair. He had been a member of District Advancement, and he also received the Wood Badge and Silver Beaver awards; Marc earned the highest training awards given to any scout leader and was a former member of the Training Staff of Shu-Shu-Ga. Known for his humorous wit, his love of family and of Salem, he will be sorely missed.
He is
survived by his brother, Salem City Councilor Michael
Sosnowski and his wife Patricia of Salem; his nieces and
nephews, Michael and Rachel Sosnowski and their
daughter, Alexander Grace, of Beverly; Tanya Sosnowski
of Salem; Jodi (Sosnowski) and Joseph Ross and their
daughter, Mayri, of Salem; and William Sosnowski of
Salem; many cousins, including Elizabeth Murphy of
Peabody; Diana Perez of New York City; his Uncle Frank
and Lucille Sosnowski of Salem; Aunt Theresa Kerr of
Hull; Aunt Victoria Halica of Connecticut; Aunt Anne
Snow of Salem, and many more extended family and
friends, including Lore and Steve Cody of Salem, and his
best friend, Casey Murphree of Salem. Jan 13, 2011 |
