Gwilym J. Clarke

December 2, 1955 – June 4, 2010

Celebration of Life Service: Monday, July 12, 2010. Details Below.

Beloved Scouter and friend, Gwilym Clarke has Gone Home.

Gwilym J. Clarke, 54 years old, passed away suddenly on June 4, 2010 while traveling in the United Kingdom. He was born on December 2, 1955 and lived in England, Ontario, and Pennsylvania before settling in Hampstead, NH.

For the past 15 years, Gwilym worked for Alfa Aesar, A Johnson Matthey Company, most recently as General Manager North America. Overall, he worked for Johnson Matthey for 31 years in a variety of positions.

Gwilym had a tremendous love, respect and adoration for his family. His energy, passion, and genuine kindness made an impact on the many lives he touched from China to Brazil and throughout Europe and North America. He had a particular fondness for and a long-term involvement with the Boy Scouts.

Many of us knew Gwil through his involvement in the Wood Badge leadership training program, while others knew him through his Boy Scout Troop, the Lone Tree District Committee, or as the Lodge Advisor for the Nanepashemet Lodge.

He is survived by his dear wife Susan; daughters Caroline of New York, NY, Natalie of Derry, NH, and sons Gwilym and Gareth, also of Hampstead, NH.  He is also survived by his mother, Marian, his father, Arthur, and other extended family members throughout the United Kingdom and Europe.
